There are two types of syncs in Cyan PoD, Sync and Re-Init (aka Re-Initialize). While they are similar, they perform a bit differently. It's important to remember that the sync runs automatically every 5 minutes. In most cases, Users/Drivers do not need to execute a sync.
Sync - When a sync is run, only updated or new data is downloaded to the device. The device does this by tracking that last time a sync occurred for the current user (aka driver) and only asking the server for anything that has changed since the last sync. There are two ways this sync is executed.
- Automatically on login and every 5 minutes after login.
Sync interval can be configured in Engine settings, 5 minutes is the default - Manually, by selecting Menu - Sync - Sync
Re-Init - When a Re-Init sync is run, all existing data is removed from the local database and re-downloaded from the server. A Re-Init should only be run if you're missing data, like Stops, Orders, or Dispositions. If you think you're missing Stops, tap the refresh button in the upper right on the Stop screen (Screen Shot). In most cases, the data has already been downloaded and a Re-Init is not needed. Since a Re-Init downloads all data, it may take a while to complete depending on how much data needs to be downloaded and your current connection speed. Please verify with your dispatcher or admin before doing this.
In both syncs, all updates/changes made on the device are sent to Cyan servers.
